France Televisions to launch 2 YouTube channels for kids

French public broadcaster France Televisions will be launching two YouTube channels for kids aged 3-12 this weekend using its Ludo and Zouzous brands.

It wants to make the kids’ channels available on all free digital platforms. The new channels will have aggregated content from around 20 channels, including existing ones such as Little Brown Bear net. The announcement was made by France Televisions kids’ unit director Tiphaine de Raguenel.

There will be more than 1,500 videos available making up 230 hours of programming. It will include content from both TV channels and online-specific channels. Original programmes will be developed in collaboration with Bayard, Ubisoft and Les Armateurs.

The kids section of the pubcaster will also begin production of a new CGI TV series Noddy which will be 11 minutes long and 52 episodes, produced by Gaumont Animation for France 5. It will also make Method Animation, Nexus Factory and DQ Entertainment’s Seven Dwarfs and Me. This is an animation and live-action combined series on the adventures of Snow, a young teenager and descendant from Snow White.
