Halloween is getting a Griffin-sized dose of mischief as Family Guy returns. The long-running animated series is now streaming, bringing its signature brand of razor-sharp humour, pop-culture parodies and musical mischief to the spooky season.
Since making its debut in 1999, the series has carved out cult status with its irreverent comedy, distinctive animation and orchestra-backed original music. At the heart of the chaos is Stewie Griffin, the talking baby whose larger-than-life personality has become one of television’s most recognisable animated characters.
The series has also made its mark on the awards circuit, earning an Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy series, a distinction previously achieved by only one other animated series in television history.
Creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane, who voices Peter, Stewie and Brian Griffin, as well as Glenn Quagmire, won the Emmy for outstanding character voice-over performance in 2016, 2017 and 2019. He was also nominated between 2013 and 2015, in 2018 and 2021.
Alex Borstein, the voice of Lois Griffin, took home the same award in 2018 and received another nomination in 2024. The series marked its 25th anniversary in 2024, proving that its comedy has plenty of life left in it.
The voice cast also features Seth Green as Chris Griffin, Mila Kunis as Meg Griffin and Arif Zahir as Cleveland Brown.
Family Guy is produced by 20th Television Animation, with MacFarlane serving as creator and executive producer. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin are executive producers and showrunners, alongside Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter.
