Disney’s famous villains’ kids go to school in ‘Descendants’; to premiere this July

Disney’s new television movie Descendants is set to bring back old memories of famous Disney villains.

The children of Jafar (Aladdin), Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians), Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) and the Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves) send their kids to a normal high school where they will meet Beast and Belle’s son, Aurora and Prince Phillip’s daughter, Cinderella and Prince Charming’s son, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine’s son, Fa Mulan and Li Shang’s daughter and the Fairy Godmother’s daughter.

You don’t need to watch the trailer to know there’s a lot of action in store! The villains are the best parts of the movies, so seeing them raising kids is equal parts terrifying and hilarious. Not to mention that there’s the classic theme of good versus evil set against the backdrop of high school.

The Descendants cast boasts of some up-and-coming actors, including Kristen Chenoweth, Cameron Boyce and Dove Cameron.

Disney’s Descendants takes place in a present-day idyllic kingdom, where the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making spawn of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters.

These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power, or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

Disney’s Descendants will premiere on the Disney Channel this July.
