Disneyland to shut 10 attractions with ‘Star Wars’ arena in sight

Earlier at the Disney’s D-23 Expo event which was held at the Anaheim Convention Center, the Star Wars World coming to Disneyland was announced.

“We’re creating a jaw dropping new world that represents our largest single theme land expansion ever,” Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger had said during the expo. Pitched as the largest expansion ever at the company’s two American properties, about 14 acres of land has been allotted to create this distinct Star Wars landscape which includes Star War rides as well.

The 14 percent of the Anaheim park that will close include permanent closures like Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Zoo, Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree and temporary closures like Fantasmic, The Mark Twain Riverboat, The Sailing Ship Columbia, The Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, The Disneyland Railroad and The Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.

Though these attractions will be closed down, we doubt it will affect the number of visitors coming in due to Disneyland’s popularity. Even if few numbers drop, the company has the backing of its recently released, Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie that has crossed the $1 billion mark within 12 days of its release.
