Disney joins Hooq in Southeast Asia

Hooq and Disney have announced a regional subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) deal to bring ABC series and features from Disney, Marvel and Touchstone studios to Southeast Asian fans anytime and everywhere they want.

Starting with Philippines, Hooq will soon roll this access to consumers across Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Superheroes and action film fans can enjoy movies including ‘Iron Man’, ‘Iron Man 2’, ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Pearl Harbor’ anytime and everywhere.

Disney Media Distribution, Southeast Asia GM Amit Malhotra said, “Disney, Marvel and ABC fans across Southeast Asia can carry their favourite content everywhere. This is a great opportunity for us to provide everyone an easy access to enjoy our best in class content any time they demand.”

Hooq is a JV between Singtel, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television to deliver entertainment to consumers in Asia. It currently provides over 10,000 Hollywood blockbusters and popular local programmes to customers anytime, anywhere by enabling them with unlimited online streaming access and an offline viewing option on their device or platform of choice.

Hooq CEO Peter Bithos said, “Disney is a clear choice partnership for Hooq when you are building a strong premium content catalogue to reach out to over a billion people. Hooq is positioned to become the largest over-the-top video service in the region with ambition to change the way people across Asia gain access to entertainment, and more importantly to satisfy their demand for quality viewing experiences for the entire family.”
