Now that’s some real good news! 9 Story Distribution International has announced to have licensed the remastered classic animated series Garfield and Friends to Boomerang, a premium streaming service. The first 30 episodes of the beloved classic series that’s newly remastered and restored in 4K from the original film, will be available for streaming from November, as the series celebrates its 30-year anniversary. Produced from 1988-1995, Garfield and Friends is based on the iconic Garfield comic strip created by Jim Davis. Syndicated in 80 countries and translated into 42 languages, 220 million people read the comic strip each day. The Garfield brand boasts 400 licensees across 5,000 products and has earned over 17 million fans on Facebook. 9 Story acquired the classic series (121 x 30’) in 2016 and has recently remastered the content into HD format. Launched in April 2017, Boomerang is a premium U.S. domestic subscription service for families, kids and animation lovers, with renowned titles like Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry from the massive Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM animation libraries, plus exclusive originals such as Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz and Wacky Races.
