Every year 21 January is celebrated as the National Hugging Day in US. This year the title of âmost huggable character of 2015â went to Walt Disney Animation Studiosâ last theatrical release character Baymax from Big Hero 6.
The award was presented by National Hugging Day founder and creator and ambassador of hugs Kevin Zaborney. Baymax accepted the award from San Fransokyo and attributed the honour to his ânon threatening, huggable designâ. He also said that he looks forward to spending the ongoing year giving and receiving hugs from all.
National Hugging Day was created to encourage people around the world show more affection in public. There is only one way you are supposed to celebrate the holiday: offer a hug to anyone and everyone you want.
Past winners of the Most Huggable Awards have included Joan Rivers who wrote after receiving her award, âIâm tempted to start saying âCan we hug?â instead of âCan we talk’â alluding to her participating in a telephone company ad; Jeff Ondash (aka Teddy McHuggins); Tessla Queen (bingtopia.com); and Mata Amritanandamayi (Kerela, India known as the âHugging Saintâ).
