Bethesda’s Fallout 4 trailer gives a glimpse of post apocalyptic Boston

Bethesda in the line for its first E3 press conference, recently teased with the cinematic trailer for its videogame Fallout 4. Set in the futuristic setting of a fictional universe set in Massachusetts, Boston and the videogame is to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The trailer shows a German shepherd entering a home with the television playing a countdown trailer which looks very similar to what was in the Fallout 1. The trailer jogs in past and present of the nuclear explosion which hit the America.

The dog (named DogMeat a reference to the movie Mad Max), will probably feature heavily in the game and may even be controllable. Todd Howard, game director Bethesda, said: “We know what this game means to everyone. The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”

The trailer also drops in a lot of references back to Fallout 3 as Mister Handy – the robot from prequel is seen along with a family. The dog scans the house and gets alarmed by a sound only to check something outside the house.

Throughout the trailer, one can hear a radio broadcast being played it constantly tries to find out if someone responds back to its queries, most likely after the war that destroyed the world started. Flash-back scenes also show residents running helter skelter as the war starts and rushing to get to the Vaults  made by ValutTec that have been built to protect them but most of them don’t make it.

A suit of power armor the bad-ass thing from the trailer which find its place in the game along with the bobbleheads which were collectibles in Fallout 3. Power armor is the most iconic gear in the game-and being able to customize them would be huge. It certainly looks like this Power Armor is in repair, at least.

A variety of weapons like laser rifle, minigun, shotgun shells can be seen, in what appears to be a workshop. And one can use these weapons on line-up of potential enemies and other characters, including Protectrons, Ghouls and Deathclaw mutants are witnessed in the trailer and one can expect the action to go a notch higher this time around.

Fallout 4 is expected to have 18+ rating but will also build on the 3D open-world environment that allowed players to roam freely around the scenery.

The new Fallout game comes after 7 years of Fallout 3 releasing back in 2008. The third installment and was set in a war-ravaged version of Washington DC, dubbed the Capitol Wasteland. Expansions to the game added Pittsburgh and Maryland. Fallout: New Vegas, which took place in a post-apocalyptic version of Nevada.

The game is most likely to release this holiday season but more details should be out when Bethesda holds the press conference at E3. The trailer has got the people talking about the game and Bethesda calling this its most ambitious game yet. The PC version is priced at Rs 2,499, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are priced at Rs 3,999.
