Ben Affleck to direct and don the Batman cape in a solo spin-off

Confirming the much expected news from the Warner Bros.’ house, Ben Affleck has reportedly acknowledged a solo Batman feature starring himself as the Caped Crusader of Gotham City. Not only will the Pearl Harbor star, don the Batsuit and armour, but will also show off his directorial skills in the tent-pole. Affleck last directed the Oscar Winner, ‘Argo’ and has also co-written and directed Hollywood stunners like The Town and Gone Baby Gone.

Affleck along with DC Comics CEO, Geoff Johns would be writing the script for the untitled Batman movie. The comic book writer, Johns holds a credible bio-data of work including various successful titles of Green Lantern and Superman. He has also shared writing duties for several episodes of CW’s Arrow and The Flash. The upcoming Batman solo would be Johns first venture into big-feature films.

With Marvel’s absence in this year’s San Diego Comic Con, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are leaving no stone unturned in stirring the masses towards the built-up of a massive DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU), a terrain already much exploited by its comic rival Marvel Studios. Citing no better time, Warner Bros. played its trump card by officially announcing a re-incarnated Batman into what we hope is a shared DCCU. Fans can expect Jared Leto’s Joker

No doubt Warner/DC have aroused sheer excitement among their fans, however the studio treads on edgy lines as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy rounded a sleek, realistic and a gripping arc of Gotham’s Watchful Protector and Ben Affleck would need another Oscar material to beat that one.

The Studio claims that the new Batman movie would feature Batman post the Batman v Superman – Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movie. No official timelines are set yet, but of course the other Warner Bros. project would make way for the DC’s cash cow between its other upcoming projects including Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Suicide Squad and the Justice League movies.
