‘Baby Shark’ boy rides a new wave with debut single ‘Wave’ featuring Joohoney

Baby Shark has a new beat to drop. A decade after appearing in the viral Baby Shark Dance, Baby Shark boy is stepping into the spotlight with his debut digital single Wave featuring Monsta X’s Joohoney, released by The Pinkfong Company.

It is a neat full-circle moment. Baby Shark boy first shot to global fame through the original Baby Shark Dance video, which has crossed 17.2 billion views, making it the most-viewed video in YouTube history. His surprise return in Baby Shark’s 10th-anniversary short-form content last year also made a splash, generating more than 22 million views.

Wave starts with the instantly recognisable Baby Shark melody before diving into an electro-pop dance track layered with upbeat rhythms and trap elements. Baby Shark boy also helped write the lyrics, reflecting on his return a decade later and his decision to take on a new challenge.

“For me, Baby Shark Dance was like the first wave that began 10 years ago. I grew up riding that wave, and now I’m standing at a new starting point as Baby Shark boy. I put that sense of moving forward into Wave and I hope people can see who I am today in a new way,” said Baby Shark Boy.

Adding some K-pop bite, Monsta X’s Joohoney features on the track, bringing his rap style alongside Baby Shark boy’s vocals. The choreography comes from Team Same, led by K-pop choreographer Young-jun Choi, whose credits include BTS, Seventeen and Twice.

The dance tips its hat to the signature moves of Baby Shark Dance, but gives them a K-pop makeover designed to be dynamic and easy to follow. The accompanying music video keeps the focus on Baby Shark Boy, pairing his youthful energy with vibrant, performance-led visuals.

Wave is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music. The official music video is streaming on Baby Shark Boy’s YouTube channel.

The wave does not stop here. The Pinkfong Company is also preparing Wave: Becoming Baby Shark Boy, a behind-the-scenes documentary tracking his growth and the making of the single. Further collaborations are also being considered, including a potential appearance in an upcoming Baby Shark film slated for winter 2026.

From viral childhood star to budding performer, Baby Shark boy is no longer just riding the wave. He is making his own.
