‘Baahubali’ and ‘Jurassic World’ share a few VFX artists in common

Baahubali

SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ is one of the most awaited movies of the year and also holds the accolade of being the most expensive movie from Indian cinema ever. With the trailer garnering over a crore views in just a week’s time, the movie already has fans going gaga over it.

The special effects in the movie are amazing and match the level of any Hollywood film. But, there is one thing common between the recently released ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘Baahubali’ – both movies share a vast use of special effects and according to our sources a few team members from ‘Jurassic World’ Industrial Light & Magic team have also freelanced on this magnum opus.

Almost 90 per cent of the historical drama requires major VFX work, with the live-action shooting augmented and expanded in post. Some 600 VFX artists are executing the effects at 18 facilities around the world, led by Makuta and Firefly in Hyderabad, Prasad EFX in Hyderabad and Chennai, Tau Films in the US and Malaysia and Dancing Digital Animation and Macrograph in South Korea.

Speaking exclusively to AnimationXpress.com, VFX supervisor on ‘Baahubali’, Srinivas Mohan reveals: “The complete work on this film has been done in India and the visual effects have been applauded by everyone. Working on this project has been personally a very enriching experience and I always enjoy working with Rajamouli Sir.”

‘Baahubali’ starring Telugu superstar Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannah is India’s largest motion picture made on a magnificent scale. The movie, which will initially release in Tamil and Telugu, will also release in Hindi. This will be the first Indian film that will transcend regional boundaries and have a pan-India appeal. ‘Baahubali’ will hit the screens on 10 July.
