Apple Confirms Media Event on 16 October

Amidst the various controversies surrounding the latest iPhone, Apple has just confirmed a media event on Thursday, 16 October. Speculations are ripe that the event is held to announce the arrival of the new iPads and Macs.

It has been a legacy of sorts that Apple launches iPads in the month of October and this seems no exception. Held at its Town Hall theatre in Cupertino, this event seems to be a more exclusive event as the theatre is far more smaller than the Flint Center for the Performing Arts, where iPhone 6 and 6 Plus took place last month.

Also, launching with the products is the public version of OS X, Yosemite the latest update to its desktop operating system which was revealed at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Recent reports say the new iPads will have gold option and also Touch ID fingerprint sensor for Apple Pay with the storage options similar to the new iPhones. The Macs on the other hand will have retina display, a first for the desktop products.

iPad Air, Apple’s flagship tablet launched last year will have a thinner version and perhaps a 12.9 version of the tablet is also in offing.

The auditorium has a long history with the company as the first Macinctosh was introduced by the departed co-founder, Steve Jobs there 30 years ago.

Apple’s iPad first launched in 2010 started a trend for the tablets and with a flurry of other products trying to match its product to the innovative giant. With sales of iPad falling short for two quarters straight, new products in line will have to live up to the expectations of the consumers.
