Annecy is crossing the Atlantic. The Annecy Festival is heading to Los Angeles as the ninth edition of the Animation Is Film Festival takes over the TCL Chinese Theatre, a single-screen movie palace, from 16 to 19 October 2026.
The Annecy festival, a founding partner of Animation Is Film alongside Gkids and Variety, are once again supporting the celebration of international animation.
The Los Angeles event will bring several films from Annecy 2026 back into the spotlight, including titles that were screened and recognised at this year’s festival.
Among them is The Violinist, which won the cristal for a feature film and the Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique, which translates to the Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music (Sacem) Award for best original soundtrack in a feature film. Paper Trail, meanwhile, arrives with the cristal for a short film.
Iron Boy, which picked up the Audience Award for a feature film, Gan Foundation Award for distribution and Jury Award at Annecy, will also feature in the programme.
The line-up further includes Tangles, a feature film in Annecy’s official category; Jim Queen, presented as part of the Animated Thrills and Chills special programmes, a genre-focused thematic showcase feature; Julián, a feature in the Annecy presents category; and Viva Carmen!, another feature from the official category.

With Annecy favourites now making their way to Hollywood, Animation Is Film is set to give these films another turn in the spotlight, proving that when animation travels, the credits keep rolling.
