Animafest Zagreb, World Festival of Animated Film, announces official selection of films

From the total of 1800 submitted films from 91 countries from across the world, World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb announced the official selection for the Grand Competition – Short Film, Student Film Competition and Croatian Film Competition categories of the 2022 edition of the festival. The event will take place between 6-11 June 2022.

Animafest’s artistic director Daniel Šuljić, Margit Antauer and Vesna Meštrić were members of the selection committee for the Grand Competition – Short Film and Croatian Film Competition, while Kata Gugić and Hrvoje Selec selected films in the Student Film Competition category.

Almost 900 films were submitted for the Grand Competition – Short Film category alone and 47 of them were selected to be presented at the festival. From 780 student submissions, 42 films were selected for the Student Film Competition, while the Croatian Film Competition will feature 18 films.

The selected films of Student Film Competition and Croatian Film Competition can be found on the official website of Animafest Zagreb.

The selection results for the Grand Competition – Feature Film, Films for Children Competition, VR Animation Competition and World Panorama, as well as the details of the rest of the festival program will be announced soon.

The announcement also stated that Animafest Zagreb strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and, by the decision of the Festival Council, decided not to mention Russia as the country of production. We support Russian artists whose films have been selected for the competition and who have publicly condemned the aggression.
