Adobe replaces Flash with Animate CC

Professional software giant Adobe kills the old Flash Professional, the web animation tool, and replaced it or rebranded it with Animate CC. But it will be a while before Adobe can put a complete full stop on Flash platform.

Adobe’s announcement of Animate CC acknowledges support for HTML5, as an online video standard. Adobe want to look at the future and thus the rebranding, apart from HTML5, there other animation formats that are seen to surpass Flash in the near future, including WebGL and 4K.

Adobe will continue to provide support for the platform since the large part of developers will take time to move to Animate CC, but will encourage the move happen faster since the new software has lot of exciting features and is lot sleeker and more powerful. It includes vector art brushes, 360-degree rotating canvas, easier audio syncing and improved pencils and brushes. It will also include CreativeSync integration to allow users access to Adobe Stock and Adobe’s Creative Cloud Libraries.

Dropping the Flash from its name is the first sign that signifies that Adobe wants to veer away from the animation standard of old.

Flash was the software throughout the World Wide Web when introduced making the web colorful, interactive but was not secure and thus was replaced by newer online formats like HTML5 and WebGL.

Animate CC debuts in January 2016 and it will be interesting how the industry takes to this new software.
