ABC to launch two Marvel comedies along with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D spin off

In the recent times, we can observe a change in the content that can be seen on TV. Apart from the usual family drama series, recently there’s been a surge in superhero shows that are adapted from comic books. It’s true that earlier also there have been shows which were doing well in this genre but not at this scale. With shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Gotham, The Flash, Daredevil gaining popularity, there has been a rise in demand of such kind of series.

And recently, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee revealed to IGN at ABC’s 2016 winter Television Critics Association press tour party that apart from Damage Control the network is currently in development on a second Marvel comedy show. With this revelation, ABC will have two Marvel comedies in development.

Lee discloses, “That’s the one that’s going to be coming out this season. I haven’t read it yet. I can’t wait to see it. We hope it’s going to be great.” Damage Control will be a half-hour, single-camera sitcom about the people who clean up the messes left by superheroes battling in their city. Lee didn’t share much details about the second comedy show but did say “in the long term, we’d love it to be” on ABC.

ABC currently airs Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Carter. Along with this second comedy, ABC also confirmed a pilot order for the long rumored Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off featuring Adrienne Palicki’s Mockingbird. The spin off is titled Marvel’s Most Wanted and the series will focus on Mockingbird and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter.
