6 Point Harness & Toon Boom Animation to conduct storyboarding workshop with Matt Danner

6 Point Harness (6PH) and Toon Boom Animation have announced a free two day storyboarding workshop with guest instructor Matt Danner.

“Great storyboards are crucial and we have noted an increased demand for board artists familiar with Storyboard Pro software. And there is no one better than Matt Danner to develop talent. It’s a real unique opportunity for burgeoning creatives,” said 6 Point Harness CEO, co-founder and executive producer Brendan Burch.

The first part will be conducted on 21 February from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at 6PH’s Echo Park facility. 30 participants will be selected by a panel of industry professionals after reviewing the submitted applications.

“Storyboarding is the life-line of the animation process – a place where a story becomes real. I’d like to share what I’ve learned from my journey so it can be of use to others,” said Matt. “Throughout my career, I’ve had many mentors and peers that helped shape my ability to do what I love. It’s time to pay it forward.”

The workshop will have instruction by Matt, additional guest lecturers and a lesson on Toon Boom’s Storyboard Pro.

“We are thrilled that 6 Point Harness asked us to be a part of this amazing event. It’s so important in our industry to encourage creativity and to continue to provide opportunities for those who may not have access to certain tools, like our software,” said Toon Boom Animation marketing and communications manager Desideria Mastriaco.

After the session, participants will be asked to create groups of three and then each group will be responsible for storyboarding one act of a particular 11-minute script. The second session on 14 March will see the groups return to 6PH to pitch their project to directors who will provide feedback and notes.

Toon Boom will grant one-month Toon Boom Storyboard Pro licenses so that participants can complete the assignment.
