5th Annual Anime Convention commences on 17 October in New Delhi

The biggest Japanese pop culture event – Anime convention – is coming back to India. In its fifth avatar, scheduled from 17-19 October 2014 at NSIC Exhibition Complex, Okhla, New Delhi – is presenting an exhilarating arena of gaming, animation, manga and Japanese pop culture. The Convention features some of the major Japanese animation, gaming and design masters companiesfrom countries like Japan, Hong Kong, US, France and India to conduct: Master-Classes, Sessions Workshop, Panel discussions, Quizzes and Cosplay competitions.

As India’s biggest animation and gaming celebration it will provide children an exclusive opportunity to meet erudite voices from the world of Japanese animation, gaming and pop culture. Children can also interact with cognoscenti of animeworld, the creators of some of the fantastic anime characters such as Naruto, Spirited Away, Ninja Hattori, Shinchan and Doraemon. These interactive sessions and workshops will be a rare opportunity for children to enhance their knowledge in the field of animation and explore their talent.It will help children to understand the thought process of an animator, gamer and illustrator.

On the opening day, there will be a workshop,’Discovering the Designer and Artist in you’: how to  mould your ideas into sketches, to be taken by the legendry French designer MEGA, who has worked as an illustrator for brands like Nike, Volkswagen. Further session ‘Monster Attack’: drawing your favourite monster, to be demonstrated by Kimiaki Y, a Tokyo based illustrator and graphic designer. In addition to thisa Treasure Hunt is organized in ‘Detective Conan’ style. The Subsequent day Y. Nakane, a Tokyo based designer will conduct a design workshop on ‘Learning the Basics of Manga Drawing’ which will be followed by another interactive design session ‘Design typography and children’: basics of designing byKshitizAnand, Dean and Director of French Design School, LEcole de design Nantes at antique, based in Bangalore.

Apart from these incredible sessions there is more, a ‘Sit & Draw’ drawing competition, Cosplay competitions, arcade gaming competitions, gaming lounge and exciting prizes lined up for the winners. The convention will also exhibit wide range of products: stationery, toys and gift items for the audience to buy.

This annual convention will be a whole new experience for the Indian audience to explore the enormous world of Anime and to inculcate new ideas and creativity in the young generation. It stands on the idea of bringing thefandom and expertsof Anime under one roof to cherish Japanese pop culture for the larger Indian audience and market.
