37 per cent mobile gamers want to switch to PC for gaming: Report

The burgeoning growth of new games, esports tournaments has bolstered the interest of players to take up gaming as a career option. As gaming has been taken seriously, users are spending a handsome amount of money to get a gaming PC, the reason behind that PC offers better gameplay, graphics and enough storage. With time the mindset and behavior of gamers  are transforming according to HP India virtual round table -The HP India Gaming Landscape Report 2021. 37 per cent mobile gamers want to switch to PC for gaming in West India. It also mentioned how PC gaming is a widespread activity in West India and highlights the relevance of a PC in society, notably during the ongoing pandemic. It is not only a popular tool for extending networks and reducing stress, but also provides a viable professional opportunity.

HP India head, personal systems (consumer) Nitish Singal said, “In the last 18 months, India’s gaming sector has witnessed unparalleled growth. It is heartening to see gaming play a crucial role in combating stress and aiding in skill improvement while offering a feasible career path for the young talent of India. Gaming represents a significant growth opportunity for the Indian PC industry and continues to be a key driver of HP’s continued development in the PC category.”

Here are the key insights:

  • Gamers in Nagpur (96 per cent) followed by Mumbai (95 per cent) have displayed a higher interest in gaming as a career option.
  • 96 per cent of female and 93 per cent male respondents in West India agreed that gaming helps them reduce stress and induce positive feelings. Additionally, 94 per cent of female respondents believe that gaming is the best source of relaxation. Gamers in Nagpur (96 per cent) and Ahmedabad (96 per cent) agree gaming helps reduce stress and induces positive feelings.
  • 91 per cent of all respondents believe gaming helps in socializing – a trend dominated by women (92 per cent) in West India.
  • 70 per cent of gamers in West India are willing to spend between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 1 lakh on a gaming PC. Interestingly, only 19 per cent gamers in Mumbai are open to spend over 1 lakh on a gaming PC.
  • Only 36 per cent male gamers and 15 per cent female are willing to spend more than Rs1 lakh .
  • 92 per cent consider the gaming industry as a viable sector for professional avenues, 89 per cent would prefer to explore gaming more seriously alongside my existing job, 88 per cent would consider gaming as a profession in the future.
  • 91 per cent women and 87 per cent are increasingly considering gaming as a career in West India
  • 96 per cent school students, 94 per cent GenX, 89 per cent millennials, 74 per cent GenZ inclined towards choosing a career in gaming.
  • 97 per cent female and 91 per cent male thinks gaming improves attention and concentration
  •  94 per cent female and 92 per cent gaming is the best source of relaxation and recreation
  • 97 per cent and 93 per cent gaming enhances multitasking skills, 96 per cent female 91 per cent male actions and activities on screen provide mental stimulation which enhances coordination, 96 per cent female and 88 per cent male gaming enhances short/long term memory, 93 per cent female and 89 per cent male gaming helps improves decision making and problem-solving skills.
