After having recently held the convocation ceremony for its first batch of graduating students, Delhi based Picasso Animation College has inaugurated a sibling company Picasso Studios which will be involved in commercial production of animation.
24 students graduated from the institute which has a tie up with a Centennial College (Canada) for its curriculum, faculty and certification.
Speaking to Animation Xpress.com, A B R P Reddy, Managing Director of Picasso Animation shared, “We had two objectives in mind while establishing Picasso, the first was to create world class animation professionals and the second to produce world class content. Our education initiative created a sustainable model towards producing world class animation professionals.”
“Having got a firm hold in the field of education, we are now taking steps to commence production operations in line with our second objective. Both the areas namely education as well as production are going to be key focus areas for Picasso and function as independent SBUs. Though initially we envisaged our studio to become functional next year, I am happy that we are starting this almost two quarters ahead of schedule” he added.
Reddy also informed that the integrated BSc programme at Picasso launched in partnership with Centennial College and an Indian University is a UGC recognized degree. This programme features Canadian faculty and certification and industry internship.
The highlight of the convocation ceremony was the screening of student’s short films. Eminent guests present included dignitaries from the Canadian High Commission such as Ms Nadia Scipio Del Campo, Head of Public Affaira, Ms Maria Mathai from Canadian Education Council and Ms Lucy Fremovitz, Vice President Centennial College who gave away certificates to the graduating students.
