Interview with TBS Digicon`s Takafumi Yuki

null“Our Aim is to create a new Asian Digital Content Market for ‘Made in Asia’ content”

Could you please share with us the objectives of Digicon?
DIGICON 6+2 is an annual International digital content competition organized by Tokyo Broadcasting System, Japan.

Currently the only Content that has a strong international distribution network is Hollywood content. I think as part of the Asian communitiy, we have more common cultural background and more mutual identity which we can share with. I think more content made in Asia should be ditributed thorugh Asian Countires.

By organizing DIGICON , we are trying to make an oppurtunity to have the Digital COntents made in each Asian country to be exhibited in not only in their country but across countires in Asia.

I am hoping in the near future, there will be more collboation project between Asian creators that will activate the Asian Digital Content Market.

You have been to India on several occasions and have interacted with quite a few studios, what’s your perspective on Indian Animation?
I see a very fast growth in Indian Animation market. Not only the amount of the tiltles been produced, but the qulaity also has reached a very high standard. I have seen both, the outsourced work as well as original IP in terms of series and short films and some of the storytelling is very convincing and I think the Indian Animation market has some promosing potential not only within Asia but internationally.

What are your plans for Digicon related events in India?
As a starting point, we are talking with our Indian Local Partner Animation Xpress to hold a small event to introduce some of the past works from Asia including Japan. Knowing what other artists are doing in different countires is a very important thing,

How many entries did you recieve from India last year and how many are you expecting this year?
Approx 200. I will be just happy if I could have more submission than last year.

Your comments on the goal of uniting Asian Animation?
Co-production, Joint -project and hopefully the “Made in Asia” content to be distributed through out Asia to create a new Asian Digital Content Market,

Additional Comments?
I am fortunate that my company is been able to suuport this Award for past 7 years.
My dream is to grow this event like a world cup scoccer that the main event will be held in different Asian countries
