Digital, Interactive: Pixion applies CG/ Gaming fundas for Maruti Estilo test drive

Imagine this!!

A New Maruti Suzuki Estilo!!

And you are taking a test ride without even sitting in it, but, with an experience similar to test driving a real car… And what is more exciting is that you can zoom in to a particular part of car and clearly examine the features, change colors of the interiors and many other minute details!!..

The fundamentals and elements of CG and Gaming when applied for creating interactive marketing solutions can work wonders!

Digitally created Interactive magic, that’s what Pixion studios have done for the new Maruti Suzuki Estilo digital test drive package which has been installed at kiosks across shopping malls and multiplexes in the country.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about this concept Pixion Vfx/Cgi Head, Viral Thakkar shared, The client wanted to display its newly launched car on the kiosks installed on various shopping malls and multiplexes. The brief given to us was to create a detailed car model with interiors, which they would later do a 360 degree rotation and interactively zoom in specific features of the car.

For e.g. the customer can click on the power window button to show the details of that particular section. We have also created photorealistic images of the mentioned car which we may provide with our watermarks. Also, the customer can later take the car out of the digitally created showroom to the live action exterior environments for a test drive on which the user can change colours and accessories on the fly, he further added.

Talking about the vision with which this package has been made, Viral said, Our main concern while doing this project was to give the product as much realism as possible. Thus, we took the utmost care in getting the scale of the car right and using all advanced techniques in getting the right texture and lighting for the car.

During the test drive of the car, customers can take it out in the live environment. When asked about this aspect, Viral commented, The environment was shot by the client by mounting the camera on a rig setup on a truck. They had shot highways and city roads. The interactive environment starts with a car put up in a digital showroom in which he camera orbits around the car. As the user selects the car and its colour for the test drive, it moves out of the showroom from a digitally created passage to the exteriors which are shot in live action. This is how a typical customer would take the car out for a test drive.

The most challenging part was to maintain the level of detail of the car to work seamlessly in an interactive environment, he concluded.

This whole set up sounds interesting and one test drive wouldn’t take much time.

But yes! Don’t just drive away.
