‘Call of Duty: Mobile’ celebrates Holi with its first localised event for Indian players

Activision Blizzard has announced its Holi 2022 celebration event in Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM)! The #CODMHoli event will offer players of the free-to-play mobile shooter game a host of Holi-themed in-game, community, and esports content to celebrate the joyous occasion. This marks Call of Duty: Mobile’s first-ever localised event created specifically for its Indian community, and affirms Activision Blizzard’s commitment to delighting its Call of Duty: Mobile community in India with culturally-relevant content that local players can enjoy.

But #CODMHoli is just the beginning. Activision Blizzard has plenty more in store for Indian players in 2022 and beyond, including the return of the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2022 on 31 March 2022, which features a prize pool worth more than $2,000,000 (around Rs 15 crore), and India as its own region to compete in Stage two and beyond.

Call of Duty: Mobile’s Bollywood Theme Song Remix

To kick-start the Holi festivities, Activision Blizzard has released the official #CODMHoli soundtrack, which puts a Bollywood spin to two of CODM’s most iconic theme songs – season one (2019), the game’s very first theme; and season six (2020): Once Upon a Time in Rust, one of the Indian community’s most beloved tracks. The soundtrack is a collaboration with prominent Indian musician and producer Anshuman Sharma, who is known for his ability to remix popular music tracks.

Accompanying the soundtrack is an animated video, which follows a squad of players who delight in the #CODMHoli event. The animation video also features some of the most popular and iconic memes and easter eggs from the Indian CODM community.

Custom Holi-Themed Swag Kits

Key members within the CODM and gaming communities are set to receive custom, Holi-themed merchandise – to give them a new way to celebrate the festival. The kit includes a pichkari, CODM-branded apparel, and gulal powder, among others, to transform the white apparel into one-of-a-kind pieces.

Grassroots and International Esports Events

Starting 19 March 2022, players will be able to test their skills against their peers with the Call of Duty: Mobile Community Cup. Open to all players in India, the weekly grassroots esports events will alternate between Multiplayer and Battle Royale formats and will offer a Rs 7,000 prize pool each week.

This tournament builds on Activision Blizzard’s recent announcement on the return of CODM’s premier international tournament, the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2022, on 31 March 2022. Of the $2,000,000 prize pool, $1.7 million is earmarked for the World Championship Finals, the biggest single event payday in Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship history.
