Layers of Fears, a psychological and psychedelic horror franchise created by the Bloober Team, is taking another shot. Layers of Fears will be released in early 2023 on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, as announced during Summer Game Fest on Thursday.
Known for its horror games, Bloober Team is developing Layers of Fears in collaboration with Anshar Studios, which produced an isometric cyberpunk game called Gamedec in 2021. According to the developers, the game is based on the foundations of Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear: Inheritance, and Layers of Fear 2.
The trailer of the game gives the classic, frightening vibe, and instead of focusing on one character, the story will unravel across generations.
“We are bringing back a franchise that is really special for us, in a new form that will give players a truly fresh gaming experience and that will shed new light on the overall story. Our plan was to recreate the games, but we didn’t want to make it a simple collection of two remastered games. We’ve worked out a new approach, something that is maybe not yet obvious. But I can tell you there’s a reason why we called it Layers of Fears,” Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said in a release.
