2nd X|Media|Lab Singapore to focus on ‘Creating Successful Computer Games’

X|Media|Lab a think tank, concept laboratory, and production workshop for new media people creating projects in the convergent media industries made its Singapore debut at Broadcast Asia in June this year.

nullThe second X|Media|Lab Singapore is to be held on 17-18 Nov ’05 as part of the Asia Media Festival. Besides the lab the event also includes a Masterclass Day (19 Nov).

The event will focus on creating successful computer games, bringing some of the world’s leading independent computer games creatives to Singapore. These Stalwarts will work directly with local project teams and companies on their own games ideas.

Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, X Media Lab CEO Brendan Harkin said, “One of the outstanding features of this kind of workshop is that professionals involved on the selected projects get to work on their own project idea one-on-one with each of the Mentors and become part of an elite international network of brilliant game developers and creatives”

Tracey Fullerton – Director – Electronic Arts Game Lab at USC

Xin Chung – Shanghai-based Games outsourcing and China market intelligence

Mark Meadows – Artist-in-Residence at XEROX-PARC

David Kainer – CTO of the 2006 World Cup Soccer Mobile MMOG

American McGee – DOOM, Quake

X|Media|Lab Singapore is suported by the Media Development Authority (MDA).

An official press release quotes Seto Lok Yin, Director of Industry Development as saying “Singapore is very serious in developing our digital media industry because of its growth potential and economic contribution.
