24 FPS registrations to begin November 12

Following the roaring success of the 24FPS Awards last year, where one witnessed some outstanding 3D animation from students, MAAC India has announced the opening of the 3rd 24 FPS Awards for the year 2005-2006. The total bounty being offered as cash prizes (without counting the sponsor prizes) amounts to a cool Rs 1.5 Million! nullRegistrations online open NOV 12 at MAAC India’s 24FPS website, meanwhile details of the contest have already been posted along with last year’s films which can be viewed online. Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, MAAC India’s Sachin Bhatnagar, one of the key people involved in the organisation of the 24 FPS said,”This year, we’ve raised the stakes and are working towards establishing this event as one of biggest celebration of animation talent in India. We’ve improvised on the earlier format to include more categories which will benefit not only fresh talent but also experts and professionals” Following are the categories a. The 24fps Best 3D Animated Short Award : Student Teams Same as last time wherein teams of 3 – 6 students work towards creating animated shorts targeted at issues of public interest. This time around MAAC has broadened the gamut of themes to include global issues such as Poverty, Child Health and Nutrition, Child Labour, World Peace, Endangered Species, Racial Discrimination etc. Teams are also given the flexibility to come up with their own topic, provided it serves a global and social interest. The award will be presented in Gold – Rs. 5 lacs + Sponsor Award Silver – Rs. 2.5 lacs + Sponsor Award Bronze – Rs. 1 lacs + Sponsor Award The category includes 5 sub category awards as well which are:- i. Best Story / Concept Awards – Rs. 75000 + SP Awards ii. Best Cinematography & Lighting – Rs. 75000 + SP Awards iii. Best Modeling & Texturing – Rs. 75000 + SP Awards iv. Best Pre-Production Design – Rs. 75000 + SP Awards v. Best Animated Short – Zonal Level Award – Rs. 50000 X 3 zones b. The 24fps Best 3D Animated Short Award : Student Individuals A new addition to the awards this year invites participation from students of 3D Animation from across the country. Students can individually participate by submitting animated films of 1 minute duration. The prize money for this award is Rs. 1 lacs + Sponsor Awards. c. The 24fps Best Animated Short Award : Professionals Another exciting addition this year, this category is for experts and professionals working in the industry. Individuals can submit their works of 1 minute duration for this category. Films can be in any of the following styles : 2D, 3D, Flash (2D) Animation, Video+Animation where animation content should be more than 50 % experimental animation techniques are included .The prize money for this award is Rs. 1 lacs + Sponsor Award.
