South Korea’s Grafizix and Malaysia’s Lil Critter Workshop sign a MoA to co-produce ‘FrenZoo’

Deputy Minister of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia at Turkish PavilionLil’ Critter Workshop, Malaysia’s award-winning animation studio has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with South Korea’s top animation studio, Grafizix to  co-produce FrienZoo a 2D cut-out animation comedy.  The MoA was  signed during the Creative Malaysia Networking Reception held at the Malaysian Pavilion in MIPCOM 2015.

FrienZoo, a pre-school animation tells a story about how the common farm animals become friends with the zoo animals. It all started when a farmer sells the farm and moves away resulting in his animals lose their home and end up arriving at a petting zoo and start to live there. Adventures follow as the farm animals are curious about the zoo animals, and they want to be friends with them.

Speaking of the international collaboration, Lil’ Critter Workshop’s MD, Walid Omar said, “We are excited to be working with Grafizix and their unique award-winning IP, FrienZoo. We would like to thank Grafizix for this amazing opportunity as well as the Malaysian government bodies such as FINAS, MDeC and MyCreative Ventures for supporting us. This is a testament of Malaysia’s ability to provide international-quality animation and work. ”

Through the agreement, Lil’ Critter Workshop will provide co-production, animation production, and compositing for Grafizix’s latest animation titled FrienZoo (78 episodes x 7 minutes).

Recently in July, both studios won an award at the Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) 2015. Lil’ Critter Workshop bagged Best Planning Award for their animation, Hogie the Globehopper and Grafizix won Best Creativity Award for FrienZoo.

Head of International Marketing and Business, Eunee Park reiterated, “This is our first collaboration with a Malaysian animation studio and we have to say that Lil’ Critter Workshop is the best choice as their work resonates with ours and they have the potential to go global.”

The studios will start developing the animation by December 2015/January 2016 and the series is slated to be aired on South Korea’s Education Broadcasting System (EBS) in late 2016.
