ZICA Bubhneshwar bags Best Animation Student film at Miniboxoffice.com’s Bangalore short Film Festival

A short film titled, ‘A Story’, created by students of ZICA Bubhaneshwar has won the best animated students’ film at Bangalore Short Film festival on 24th June 2010. The festival was organized by Miniboxoffice.com

The students who worked on the film include  B. Kranthi Kumar, Laxmikanth Jena,  Amit Chatterjee ,  V. Amarabati ,  Aditya Kumar Behera, Manas Ranjan Pattnaik  and  Ashish Kumar Gouda.

The event was organized in order to mark the ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’ and to salute the contribution of the Kannada film industry towards the development of Indian Cinema. The festival aimed to provide a platform for aspiring students and professional filmmakers to showcase their talent with networking opportunities with other filmmakers.

The Festival received 70 plus selected entries including short films, animated films, documentaries and music videos. Besides showcasing films from India and the international markets such as US and Spain, the festival also held workshops, filmmaker’s meets, lectures on cinema and much more.

It also showcased films of students from several institutes across the country including FTII, Pune, Arena Animation, Bangalore;  ZICA, Bhubaneswar; MAAC; Flash Frame Visuals Academy of Films & Television, Bangalore.

The festival’s selection panel consisted of Fifteen highly experienced people from media, academics and films. The jury consisted of renowned names like Vijay Bhanushali, Head of Animation, Shemaroo Entertainment and P. Sheshadri, renowned Kannada Film director.. Mr. P. Sheshadri is the first director to receive six consecutive National Awards.

According to the director of the Festival, Rambhul Singh – “The festival’s objective was to create and establish a short film culture in India, promotion of upcoming filmmakers, developing sources of revenue generation for short films and to make short film making a commercial enterprise”.
