In what could be termed as a free wheeling discussion with Vaibhav Studios director Vaibhav Kumaresh, the floor was kept open to feed points for discussion on how pre-production plays an integral role in the process of filmmaking be it animation or live action.
“The visuals must be so appealing that we should not really focus much on the dialogues on the outset, but the story and characters are building blocks for the perfect story as well,” Vaibhav said.
He spoke passionately about how important is the role of the BGs in supporting the narrative and story of any animation feature film. “It really enhances the whole film in a big manner and almost plays a character on its own if made really well.”
He further touched upon some really well known characters like Spiderman, Superman and Po from Kung Fu Panda and how they have really created a niche for themselves globally and how India too needs to take a leaf out of their book and look at expanding our characters.
“I don’t think we have any dearth of stories in the country, it’s just that we need better storytellers who can read the pulse of the audience and really serve them with greater narratives and characters,” he added.
He also complimented his contemporaries like Rajiv Chilaka who have really held fort in troubled times and managed to not just sustain in this ever changing industry but also grow substantially.
