MAAC COIMBATORE SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS Catalyst 2012 -A interactive session on Careers in Animation and Movie Industry

More than 1000 Students from 15 Colleges across Coimbatore Participated in “Catalyst 2012 “ A interactive session on Careers in Animation and Movie Industry “ The event was organized by MAAC Coimbatore and Dr G.R.Damodaran College of and Science Coimbatore and was held at the GRD College Auditorium . The event was inaugurated by Thiagarajan Kumararaja the director of the National Award winning Tamil Movie Aranya Kaandam, the other dignitaries present in the event were Mr. Shajan Samuel Service President MAAC (India) , Geetha Padmanaban Secretary of Dr .G.R. Damodaran College of Science GRD college of Science ,Shanta Principal of Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science , Radha HOD Viscom , Prosenjit Ganguly Independent Animation designer & Purvi Shah Regional Head A.P. & Tamil Nadu.

According to Mr .Shajan Samuel Sr. Vice President MAAC (India) Catalyst is an event to dispel myth‘s that a career in New age Media & Film Making is not lucrative, we want to inform all young people out there to buck the trend that only a Doctor or and an Engineer can impact life or make money, An Animator creates life, and follows his or her Passion and in more ways than one is an instrument for change. The success of Catalyst endorses the fact that there is no poverty of ambition in youngsters to chase their dream, and transcend their Passion into their Profession; Mr .Shajan reiterated that Students must follow their heart and stand by the Choice they make. “The Choice they make becomes a function of their identity .Shajan also said that Students of today are lucky to get guidance from Industry experts and are blessed with a gamut of opportunities; they must encash on the opportunities in front of them.

He ended his session with a very nice quote “If you are born Poor, then it’s not your fault, but if you die Poor, then it’s your fault “Mr .Thiagarajan encouraged the students to Join the animation and movie Industry if they are passionate, and not because there is money to be made, He also spoke on hard work and persistence, He said movie are made for making box office returns, but when he was working on “Aranya Kaandam “ his only objective was to make a movie which was exciting and which he believed in .

All the session were highly interactive with lots of Questions, the Logo Competition organized by MAAC saw an unprecedented number of entries, which clearly demonstrate the appetite for gaining knowledge amongst the Students of Coimbatore .
