Netflix has announced a new feature called Mystery Box for kids, which is similar to the Play Something function. Mystery Box helps parents to find new shows and movies for the kids. As the name suggests, it is a new way to discover content appropriate for kids.
Appearing on Netflix’s home screen, the feature will be exclusively available for kids’ profiles. Parents and kids can find the Mystery Box in the favourites row at the top of the homepage, after selecting the Mystery Box and Netflix will show recommendations on the screen. With this move, Netflix tries to bring engaging and tailored content to the kids. Although it is not clear whether the suggestions are random or based on previously watched content. Adult’s Play Something feature showcases content based on watch history.
Netflix launched this feature for all TV users around the world. The OTT giant has been investing in the version of its kids’ service like the profile design, top 10-row for kids profile and TikTok style test feed for kids.
