Netflix is reportedly in talks to acquire The Woman in the Window from Fox 2000. Directed by Joe Wright, the thriller was initially set for release in October 2019.
Adapted from the book by author AJ Finn, the movie stars Amy Adams as an agoraphobic child psychologist who lives alone in a New York Suburb. She spends her day watching film noir classics and spies on her neighbours like she sees in the movies she loves.
Even though Disney owns Fox 2000, the adult thriller wouldn’t be appropriate for the family friendly Disney+. Recently, many movies have gone from studios to streamers. Coronavirus is partially to blame for this.
Netflix, on the other hand is improving in terms of its original content, and the streaming service is more about quantity over quality, having something for everyone. Even if the movie is not as good, Netflix still gets a Fox 2000 movie with an A-list star cast.
The deal is still being finalised, so it is not yet known when it will be released.
