With the launch of two new series, Marvel is entering the second phase of Star Wars: The High Republic. Marvel Comics’ Star Wars: The High Republic sagas will return this fall with a new ongoing Star Wars: The High Republic series and a new Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade limited series, as announced at Star Wars celebration Anaheim.
Marvel’s official website gives information about Star Wars: The High Republic, it says: Launching in October, the series will see writer Cavan Scott and artist Ario Anindito reunite after their mega-successful run on volume 1. Set 150 years before Phase 1, Phase II of Star Wars: The High Republic will centre around Jedha, a planet rich in its connection to the Force and the focus of every major faith in the galaxy. The new flagship Star Wars: The High Republic comic series will introduce Jedi Vildar Mac, who arrives as Jedha’s fragile peace begins to crumble and a nameless terror arrives.
According to Marvel’s official website, author of Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi and one of the chief architects of Star Wars: The High Republic storytelling initiative, writer Charles Soule are teaming up with Marco Casteillo for Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade. The strange past of Porter Engle, the Jedi-turned-cook known as the Blade of Bardotta, will be explored in this four-issue limited series.
Soule was named a creative consultant for Lucasfilm last month and will be a featured guest at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim with Cavan Scott and Daniel José Older, representing Star Wars: The High Republic. Lando, Obi-Wan, and Anakin, Poe Dameron, Darth Vader, The Rise of Kylo Ren, War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, and The High Republic: Eye of the Storm are some of the other Star Wars titles on which he has worked.
Anindito’s cover art graces the cover of Star Wars: The High Republic #1, which will be released in October 2022. It will be followed by Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #1 in November 2022, the cover art for the same is designed by Guiseppe Camuncoli and Frank Martin.
