Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins Star Wars’ ‘Ahsoka’ series

The Birds of Prey actor Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who portrayed the role of Huntress in the DCEU film, has signed up for the Star Wars universe for an undisclosed role in Ahsoka.

According to THR, the Huntress herself will be part of the Ahsoka cast, opposite Rosario Dawson’s striking, titular Jedi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker.

Winstead is well known for her role in Live Free or Die Hard, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and 10 Cloverfield Lane. She also played the title role in the action flick Kate.

The live-action series stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, following her debut as the character in season two of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. As a spinoff, Ahsoka will likewise be set during the events that follow the film Return of the Jedi.

As per CBR reports, Ahsoka follows the story of Dawson’s young Jedi, who first appeared in animated form in the Star Wars universe, having significant arcs in The Clone Wars and Rebels. She was originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein, who also helped to develop the character.

The cast also includes Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Natasha Liu Borddizzo as Sabine Wren, and Ivanna Sakhno in a currently-unknown role. The series is written and executive produced by Star Wars icon Dave Filoni, with The Mandalorian’s Jon Favreau executive producing as well.

Star Wars’ latest series, The Book of Boba Fett, is streaming now on Disney+ with new episodes released on Wednesdays.

Star Wars: Ahsoka is expected to debut on Disney+ at a later date.
