Marvel’s ‘Strange #1’ brings back a classic version of Thunderstrike

The new issue of Strange#1 written by Jed MacKay, penciled by Marcelo Ferreira; Don Ho and Roberto Doggi has done the inking, coloured by Java Tartaglia and Felipe Sobreiro; and lettering by VC’s Cory Petit brings back Eric Masterson/Thunderstrike

Here’s the official synopsis:

A NEW SORCERER SUPREME RISES! Doctor Strange is dead! And a new Sorcerer Supreme has taken the title, or should we say Sorceress? Haunted by her recently returned memories, Clea longs to bring Stephen Strange back from the dead! But when a mysterious group attacks the magical realm, Clea must rise to the duties of Sorcerer Supreme. For she is now the sole protector of Earth against magical threats.

The new comic book features the events after the death of Doctor Strange. Eric Masterson has appeared as Thor and later Thunderstrike. The character was introduced as a supporting character in the Thor title, but continued in several other comic books, including the self-titled series Thunderstrike in 1993. Later interpretations of Thunderstrike would appear in both the Marvel Comics two and Heroic Age Marvel Comics storylines, featuring the character’s son as the hero.

Strange #1 is on sale now and features covers by Bjorn Barends; Mahmud Asrar and Matthew Wilson; Frank Brunner and Flavio Dispenza; J. Scott Cambell and Sabine Rich; Stanley Artgerm Lau; Francesco Manna and Federico Blee; and Skottie Young.

The next issue of the series, Strange #2, releases 6 April from Marvel Comics.
