Winners of Arena Chowringhee Interface Awards 13 Announced

Year 2013 once again saw Arena Animation Chowringhee showcasing the creative talents of their students at Vidya Mandir on 21st December in presence of the eminent guests such as Mr.Prosenjit Ganguly and Mr.Pankaj Maloo from the animation fraternity.

Prosenjit Ganguly- an independent animation design professional, an alumnus and former member of the faculty of  National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad inspired the budding animators by speaking about the meaning, the process and the stages of animation development. He spoke about the importance of story, research, concept and the visualization that goes behind making an animation film. He also spoke about how he has not done any job in the last 20 years but has worked passionately all these years. He urged the students not to concentrate on getting a job but to work independently and create good work so that they do not need to look for jobs.

Pankaj Maloo, CEO of Kreative Fingers- a logo and web development company based in Kolkata spoke briefly on the subject of logo and web animation and complimented the students for their effort and their hard work. He also went on to say that Arena Chowringhee has been and will always be one of their major sources for recruitment of manpower.

He urged the students to look at the web animation market which is growing by leaps and bounds. He stressed on the originality aspect which should not compromised under any circumstances.

Also, right attitude of a candidate is the other most important ingredient that they look at while recruiting a student.

The objective of bringing out the excellence from the budding animators has been the exclusive culture of Arena Animation Chowringhee under the guidance and competent leadership of Mr.A.D.Singh.

The program which followed drew a lot of appreciation from the audience started with a series of cultural events comprising of the inaugural dance Shiv- Vandana

Speaking on the occasion the Centre Director A.D.Singh says : The event has been designed keeping in mind the singular purpose of harnessing the best of talents in each student and at the same time generating a widespread interest in the animation sector.  He followed it up by saying that “It is here in this city when we started in 1997and since then we have grown by leaps and bounds and this has been only possible with the response of the creative people of Kolkata. Our center has been nominated for awards and accolades not only within India but also internationally.

The Interface Awards was based on a series of competitions which were held in the centre. The students have worked extremely hard and to submit their entries. The various categories were as follows: 2D Cartooning , 3D Designing , Book Cover Designing, Short Films, TVC, Photography, Web Template Designing, Rig Output, Dialogue Shots and VFX Shots. The judges for these categories were Mr. Debasish Deb – a cartoonist with ABP, Mr. Arthur Cardozo – an ad maker, Mr. Anup Guha –a photographer and Mr. Puneet Sharma – Technical Advisor – Aptech Arena
