Nickelodeon dropped the first trailer of the CG animated series, The Smurfs, which is all set to premiere on Friday, 10 September 2021. The new trailer features the cute characters including Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and the evil Gargamel.

The Smurfs voice casts includes David Freeman as Papa Smurf, Berangere McNeese as Smurfette, Lenny Mark Irons as Gargamel, Youssef El Kaoukibi as Brainy and Catherine Hershey as Willow.

While announcing the show, ViacomCBS Consumer Products president Pam Kaufman said, “The Smurfs is an iconic global franchise that has resonated with audiences for decades, by partnering with LAFIG, we are able to join our creative forces to bring an all-new line of consumer products across multiple categories to consumers, along with a fresh and original animated series.”

IMPS/LAFIG founder and president VĂ©ronique Culliford said, “I am extremely proud and happy to have Nickelodeon and its fantastic team to represent our Smurf brand both for the broadcast of our beautiful new TV series and as an agent, we are making history again more than 40 years after the global success of the first TV series of the Smurfs, which is broadcast in more than 100 countries still today! I am convinced that we could not have found a better partner to Smurf our beautiful blue planet.”

After nearly 40 years, the Smurfs are returning to television yet again. The Smurfs heralds the revival of the famous little blue creatures on television. They are a team of daring and inventive Smurfs alongside Smurfette with punchy dialogues.  The adventures of the characters were first created by Peyo Productions in 1958, later transferred to the screen in 1959. The small screen begins with Dupuis, followed by the American studio Hannah Barbera (Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Whack Races), then the big screen with great success.

The Smurfs will premiere on 10 September at 7:30 pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
