Jay Bhanushali

nullWinning at Indiantelevision.com‘s The Indian Telly Awards 07: “It was wonderful to win the fresh face of the year award. Everytime I actually prepare a script and go to an Awards function. But I haven’t got an award earlier, because last year Pulkit, who is a good friend, won all of them. This year too, I had taken for granted that he will get it again. While the nominations were being announced, I was casually talking to Naman Shaw and suddenly it was announced: The winner is Jay Bhanushali. I was taken aback, couldn’t believe it. You know what, I was actually going very slowly while climbing the stairs to receive the awards, in order to think of what I would say. Then I said this fact that I haven’t prepared and I wasn’t expecting. I just banked on my good sense of humor when I thanked Naman for nothing.”

Gaming Laptop on the Sets
“I love gaming and am a gamer myself. I get my laptop on the sets and play games. It’s so exciting to see animation all over. It’s not only in the movies but also in mobile, games, everywhere. I had really liked the animation done in Hum Tum, it was lovely. It was targeting the youngsters as well as the children, as in, like my nephew liked and so did I.”

Voice overs: “Look, Balaji is already fed up with my voice, so I can’t give more of my voice anywhere. Moreover some people say that my voice is kiddish, so I can’t give voice over Maybe I can for an animated character that is a child. But voicing is a different ballgame and an art in itself, it is not easy. One has to be a master for it.”

Mouni Roy

nullHer Performance at the Awards: “The experience of performing at the Indian Telly Awards was really good. Each function where I perform is very important for me and so was this. Moreover since this time I had the opening performance, I was very happy. I liked doing the number as I am a trained Kathak dancer. I have even learnt classical, contemporary and many other dance forms too, so it is very near to my heart.”

The beauty fancies, Beauty & The Beast
“I do like animation and enjoy watching animated features. Though I haven’t got the opportunity to see many films as such, some of my favorites that I have watched are Atlantis, Madagascar, The Lion King, Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland and others. But Beauty and the Beast is the one I love most.”

Would love to see an animated character based on her! We‘d love it too!
Mouni fancies the idea of getting herself animated, i.e. she wouldn’t mind if someone approaches her with the offer to make an animated character based on her. If the story and script are good I would really not mind it. Something like that should happen, it’s high time that Indian television brings innovative concepts like these. I would be very happy to be animated.

Voice Overs: I would also like to give voice overs. I am from Jamia University, we had our own radio station, and I have done a lot of radio jockeying kind of stuff and also radio jingles, and plays. In fact you would be surprised to know that I am a good puppeteer and have done a lot of plays with puppets like Dream Merchants and had given voice too. So I would surely love to give voice overs for animation projects

Jasvir Kaur

I usually am backstage or on stage at most events most of the time as I am always performing on numbers. It was the same case this year too with the Indian Telly Awards. I like the Awards and we were glad to receive a lot of applause for our performance

She‘s got a Tinkerbell Tatoo on her Back!
“You know what? I have a big tattoo on my back which is of Tinkerbell!” shared Jasvir excitedly…

She shared more.. extempore… read on…

“I feel animated characters are just too endearing and enchanting, in fact the kind of stress-full lives that we lead, it is essential once in a while for me to go watch either a comedy or an animated film in the theatre. And the more kids I take along with me, the more fun it is and I enjoy it as much, if not more than them.”

“I will be taking my Nephew and Neice to watch Bal Ganesh and Hanuman Returns, both seem exciting movies. Also I remember around four years ago, I was at a show in Canada and I went and experienced a 4D film ride where you actually get into the film completely, it was mind blowing.”

And a Diwali XBOX gift for hubby dearest
“Many people get surprised when I tell them this, but I have actually gifted an XBOX to my husband this Diwali I know that most wives hate it when their husbands game, but I know he loves gaming and I am glad I gifted him the Xbox”

The experience was quite good, I loved the spirit of the show, I wish that the Awards shows would also focus on DoorDarshan also

Shaktimaan‘s Shakti Bhari IP
Hanuman has created the path for the Indian animation industry, I was involved with it, I gave my voice for Hanuman. And now there is Hanuman Returns which will release next month and it will be good too, I am sure. Indian Animation will evolve technically as well because there are a lot of animators in the country and the field is growing fast.

My serial, Shaktimaan which has been successfully on air for the past 9 years (first 7 years with DD and the past 2 years on Pogo) is a great IP targeted at Kids. It has already been launched as comic book property first on Diamond and then on Raj. I plan to launch it on several other platforms including Animated Feature, PC Games, Home Entertainment (on Moser Baer) etc.

Shaktimaan has already had a good Licensing & merchandising presence, though I believe that the market needs to mature some more. I am seriously looking at Toys too, in fact my other serial Aryamaan for which Crest had done some great VFX a few years ago also is based on super heroes and we were at one point in time trying to create a super hero toy range around Shaktimaan and Aryamaan, it didn‘t happen probably because the idea might have been ahead of its time, but there‘s a lot that will take shape in the future.

I think that the Awards were very very fair and credible. They were very well organized as usual, the choreography was spectacular and I really enjoyed myself.

Of Bal Ganesh & Hanuman Returns
Animation in our country is growing and evolving, I know that because I read a lot about it in the papers, in the hoardings, like these days I see Bal Ganesh posters adorning the buses, Hanuman Returns full page adverts in the Media, And I will surely watch these movies.

In fact this is very linked with a lot more changes that are happening in the media & entertainment space, there is more scope for variety in cinema, people are taking risk they are investing in new ideas and these are interesting times.

Played on her nGage all night
I play video games too, I mean I used to play…. I was like glued to my nokia nGage, in between shots, after the shoot, in fact I used to play all night. And be it complex games or simple ones like Snake, I love them all in fact I am sure I must have set some sort of record for Snakes, I am a pro at it!

I have always enjoyed going to the Indian Telly Awards, but this year they have got even better! The backstage management as well as facilities provided to the artists were first rate!

Voices Voices Voices
I would love to give voice for animated characters, in fact I even gave a voice test for animated shows a couple of years back, but have not followed up since, but I will soon!

My favorite film is Shrek all the sequels too, I also love Ice Age, Finding Nemo, for me I don‘t make any distinction between live action and Animation, a movie is a movie is a movie, in fact sometimes animated films are done so well that they are more absorbing as an experience.

A lot of work goes into it, and I believe that voice plays a great role, the voice actually is done first and it emotes and enacts the story which is then animated and taken to greater heights.

Donkey in Shrek by Eddie Murphy as well as Brad Pitt as Sinbad are my favorite voices that I feel are just too good!

Amit Sareen

nullHis performance at the Awards: “Performing on stage always feels different. It takes you to another altitude, generating 1000 volts of current in you.”

Sundays and Spiderman
I do love animation a lot. I personally feel that the way the animation scenario is growing, it’s going to be very huge in India in another couple of years. Infact it has already arrived. All animations are my favorites. Mickey & Donald and Tom & Jerry are of course my all time favorites. I remember my school time, when I was in a Boarding School and we used to get just Sundays to see television in a common theatre room and we all used to rush to watch Spiderman, Mickey and the likes. Now I love Shrek, The Lion King, I do go to watch animated movies. Pogo and other channels are showing very good quality animation nowadays. The field has a big future.

Own animated version: Wow, that would be nice to see oneself animated. I can imagine that it would be like an extended version of my real self.

Voiceover: Like I said, I like the entire aspect of animation. I would like to get into anything related to it. Voiceovers are cool. It is an improved format of dubbing, yet is a very different thing. I have actually given my voice to an animated commercial. There’s a lot that goes into it. You have to emote the voice properly.

The Indian Telly Awards were a very enjoyable evening, I really liked the whole idea of the Om Shanti Om number.

Proud about Krrish & Narnia FX
I do enjoy watching Tom & Jerry, though Lion King & Jungle Book are my all time favorites. Even for CID we use CG & Computer Graphics whenever the scenes demand them, which is quite often. Also, I do like films with VFX as long as the stories are also focused on and well told. I enjoyed Krrish the Visual Effects were very good. Also when I came to know that Mumbai based Rhythm & Hues India was involved in the VFX for films like Narnia, I felt really proud.

Reenie Mansata

nullNew York-based singer of Indian origin

Her Performance: Performing at the 7th Annual Indian Telly Awards was fantastic. It was my debut performance in India. My album will be released on 7th December with the Sa Re Ga Ma label. One of the videos shall come in a couple of weeks, that was one of the two songs on which I performed. I liked the entire programme, it was very professional.

On Animation: “I love animated movies. Some of them are really so good like the Penguin movies, Shark Tales, which are for all age groups and not just for kids. I always like to watch Tom and Jerry. It‘s fun with whole lot of humor. I also liked Finding Nemo, Happy Feet and I have the DVDs of them all. The movies are fun to watch especially when animation is so advanced now. After 2D, now it’s 3D.”

Kaamya Punjabi

nullHer Performance: “Giving a performance at the Indian Telly Awards was amazing. The event was well organized. I got very good response for the dance number, as people said it turned out to be very nice and I had started getting calls right after the performance. I was proud to be part of the event.”

Winning: “Getting the award was very special for me. It made me emotional and I couldn’t say anything.”

On Animation: “I love it when my nephew enjoys watching animated cartoons so much.”

What about an animated character based on you?
“While you were saying it, I already started imagining myself in an animated character. It should be fun, one should do such bold things. I know, there are so many animated movies coming up, especially in India.”

Barkha Bisht

nullHer Performance: “Performing was really nice. I had done it last year also. It’s always good to perform at the Indian Telly Awards. It’s convenient to work with choreographer Geeta. It was a grand show indeed. Moreover I had a very nice number from Saawariya.”

On Animation: “I appreciate animation. I love watching cartoons on television and films like The Lion King. I have fun.”

Getting animated: “It would be fun, I would like to do that maybe in the form of Little Mermaid or something like that.”

Voiceover: “I would like to try that. I think I am good at communication, so it should be interesting.”

Dimple Jhangiani

It was my performance on stage, with a huge audience, something new for me and I will remember it all my life!

On Animation, FX & Games:
I started out last year and have done close to 15 TV Commercials as a model. Though I am not too aware of the process of how Animation or Visual Effects are done, quite a few of the commercials I shot for involved some great computer generated effects work and in that is my involvement with this field.
