TASI lines up Ishu Patel, Joel Simon for Dec 2006

The Indian Animation scenario is getting hyper active, not only in terms of the volatility and surge in investments but also in terms of community building and interactivity. 2006 has been a watershed year in terms of community growth and peer groups being formed with knowledge sharing as key theme and backbone.

NASSCOM, FICCI, TASI, ASIFA India, ABAI, cgTantra, cgArena all have contributed to the growth and we at AnimationXpress.com are thrilled to be the connecting link and media constantly informing our massive National and Global database of Animation, Gaming, FX Industry readers about the smallest to the biggest developments in this space.

While most of 2006 has been active, December will be a hyper dynamic finale to this year. With activities from cgTantra, TASI, Arena, FICCI and many others lined up.

Sharing some of its December plans with AnimationXpress.com, TASI secretary Tony Singh shared that workshops lined up for December included Mega workshops with stalwarts like Oscar Nominee Ishu Patel and Flickerpix Joel Simon.

The first day function is on Dec 2, co presented by MAAC, NID and TASI, which will have Oscar nominated director Ishu Patel in an open seminar on animation, Ishu Patel is a renowned film director, animator and educator, and is globally recognized for his contribution to Animation Film Making. The program is being organized at Mumbais Rang Sharda Auditorium.

Following the open for all workshop which is being held on the 2nd of December, is the full day, hands-on workshop with Ishu Patel on the creative process of Animation. The curriculum includes conceiving and creating an animation project from the inside out, character development and design, and a presentation on expanded animation -the range of possibilities.

Following the Ishu Patel series of workshops, the next big one from TASI in December is Horn Ok Please creator Joel Simon. The session is scheduled for December 9 at the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research auditorium Andheri(w). It starts at 4:30pm, and will be a 5 hour interactive presentation.

Tony Singh remarked “TASI hosted Isabel Herguera from Spain on Nov 24th and the event was a total success. In fact we were nearly forced to refuse entry to people as the auditorium was packed to capacity with over 325 people in attendance. I would suggest to all those interested in taking advantage of these upcoming sessions to pre-register with TASI at the earliest. Itâ€?s not everyday that we have the opportunity to meet and interact with such international talent especially from such varied forms of animation. TASI is doing its utmost to expose Indian audiences to such a fantastic art pool and to enable our artists and students to interact with the masters.”

Speaking about the kind of turn out he anticipated, Tony shared “Turnout is important, we at TASI do not view it as a measure of our success. We believe that even if one person benefits from our efforts – itâ€?s worth our while to have put in the time and energy to organize such events. Remember that TASI is not doing this for the money, itâ€?s doing this for the animator and his art. Itâ€?s up to the people to take advantage of the opportunities that we are enabling for them”
