CANNES: The global expansion of animation production business is creating several interesting scenarios for collaboration. Headed by Tony Sealy, Singapore based Intense Animation Studio is mulling an Indian facility which it wants to set up in collaboration with an Indian company.

Founded in 2004, Intense Animation Studios is a well known 3D animation company in Singapore and is involved in both Education and Animation Production. It has trained close to 400 students since inception and is currently working on a couple of IPs at its studio arm.

Here at MIPCOM Junior in Cannes, Intense Animation Studio MD Tony Sealy shared with AnimationXpress.com, “We are very interested in India and are currently seeking collaboration partners with whom we can set up base there. We plan to start with an educational outfit first and for the first year we would focus on grooming talent, around 70-100 students after which we would then also get into production”

“The two common things about Singapore and India are that both are CG hubs, though on a completely different scale, and another similarity in both places is that there is a lot of need for artists and demand for talent is high. We have quite a lot of Indian artists in our team here at Singapore and they are extremely talented. I believe that thanks to the support of the Government and the good infrastructure, Singapore will be able to scale up in the next five years time, but it needs to outsource quite some work till then and India seems to be amongst the most logical solutions,” he added.

This is the first MIPCOM visit for Intense Animation and Tony shared that as they were now working on a couple of IPs, MIPCOM was the best way to explore and know about different distribution streams. “It’s an exploratory visit and we are looking for distribution for our IPs which include a football property (animated) and another travel adventure series based on children‘s book. We are looking for European distribution at the market.”
