NASSCOM Unveils Highlights & International Speakers for NGDC’13

The 5th edition of Nasscom Game Developers Conference set to happen on 15-16 November looks to be a must attend event with both days having a bunch of gaming treats planned with indie track, international speakers,debut of NGF Awards and BYOG BUILD your own game jam.

Turning towards a quick history on NGDC , the inaugural conference was held in 2009,was a 1 day event and attended by 150 enthusiasts.In 2010, the 2 day conference had 20 + sessions attended by more than 300 delegates. In 2011, the conference grew further, with 700 attendees. Last year,the conference touched 1000 delegates and for sure it will see record number of footfalls this year too!

So what makes this NGDC edition the best one? We hear this from Shurti Verma from NASSCOM ” This edition is a developer’s paradise- giving them an opportunity to rub elbows with industry veterans and indie developers alike. Dedicated to the advancement of interactive entertainment through talks, panels, super-pitches, tutorials and more, the NGDC is aimed at bringing to the forefront the exciting gaming eco-system that exists in India.”

Adds more, “The NGF forum has tracked 170 studios in India. The target audience are all game developers, students interested in game development, technology companies.”

Speakers from the top notch gaming studios around the globe who will add more appeal to the conference are Rami Ismail ,Business & Development head at Vlambeer, (known best for Wasteland Kings, Ridiculous Fishing, Super Crate Box, LUFTRAUSERS, GUN GODZ, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter & Radical Fishing), Gordon, Co-founder, Simogo ( known best for Device 6, Beat sneak bandit,), Paolo (Every Day the Same Dream), Greg Barnett (Horace series, The Hobbit, Way of the Exploding Fist (the first home computer beat ‘em up), Rock ‘n Wrestle (the first ever wrestling game), the hugely successful Discworld point and click adventures, and the critically acclaimed Ghost Masters). These experts would take the attendees through the ins ans outs of building and marketing games.

This year,apart from the regular sessions, NGDC will be hosting on the ground mentoring and advisory sessions with experts in game industry and law experts.  Studios can book time for one on one session with expert panel for mentoring.  On the indie track front,  individual tracks , Dedicated 2 day Indie track, 1 day technology track, 1 day game design/production track, 1 day business track,will be one of the prime highlights.

And,the very first NASSCOM GAMING FORUM awards will honour the winners at the event.65 nominations have been received with 25 nominations for indie game of yhe the year, 13 for the student game of the year  and 27 in the game of the year with 1 game nomination for BB, 18 games in iOs, 17 in pc games and 1 in physical board game.
“This year is the debut edition of the NGF Awards and we closed nominations fon 30th September. I must say the response has been very encouraging. The winner under Indie game of the year and student game of the year would receive cash prizes of 1,00,000 and 50,000 respectively.”, concludes Shruti.
