Madhusudanan, Bowie enlighten youngsters at SAE forum

nullAddressing an eager audience at the SAE International educational forum, ace visual effects producer Madhusudnan proclaimed to the audience that Indian graphics would touch new heights provided the habit of compromising was done away with.

Organised by SAE Technology college, the forum is part of its initiative to drive awareness around careers in audio/visual media. The college intends to take the forum across cities in India.

Madhusudanan is one of the very few or probably the only Indian to have qualified for a memebrship at the the prestigious Visual effects society, Los Angeles. He was also one of the key people supervising work on SFX at Applause Entertainment when the studio was working on a part of the Lord of the Rings.

Taking the dias, Madhusudhanan spoke on his experience on the Lord of the rings displaying the portion where his expertise came into play. He said that creativity is directly proportional to passion and he strongly pointed out that the Indian graphics industry would touch new heights the minute compromise stops. He also said that he had several Hollywood projects at hand and lamented at the great paucity of trained manpower.

Gaming expert from the UK Ben Bourie, explained about the different stages involved in the game development cycle from conception, design, pre production prototyping and final game asset. Pointing out that the number of players in the Indian market was gradually increasing he informed the young audience about the career options that thye could pursue in Game development.

“Industry estimates by 2006, 529 million people across the world will play mobile, interactive TV and online games. There is a need for trained manpower in this segment and it’s a $6 billion industry in the US alone.” said Ben smiling smugly.

Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, Ben stated that, ” I have really been impressed with the quality of work at the few game development companies that I have come across in India.”
