India country of Honor at MIPCOM: FICCI Preparations on in full swing

India is the country of honor at MIPCOM this year and preparations are on in full swing.

The FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) office is abuzz with activity as the team is working at a rapid pace to ensure that all of the several initiatives that FICCI is taking for the entertainment Industry at MIPCOM this year yield the desired results.

“The aim is to bring the Indian entertainment industry to an international scale. The industry has matured enough now to collaborate with global players and itself become a global player” shared FICCI Sr. Director Amita Sarkar.

The attraction that Indian content holds for International audiences is increasing by the day and FICCI is doing its best in terms of supporting Indian content creators to interface with global players at Mipcom which is one of the world‘s largest markets for audio visual content.

Sarkar spoke about FICCI‘s initiatives this year at MIPCOM in light of India being the country of honor. “We are working on several initiatives, including the opening night party which will present Incredible India at its creative and cultural best; the India focused conference with the theme of Indian content on the move; the networking lunch in honor of the Indian delegation hosted by the mayor of CANNES; and the India pavilion where players who haven‘t taken their own pavilions can conduct business and gain exposure to the International clientelle.”

“Amongst top speakers at India day at MIPCOM include Kunal Dasgupta, Subhash Chandra, Ronnie Screwvala, Tapas Chakravarti, Anuradha Prasad, Soundarya Rajnikant, Neeraj Roy and Vishal Gondal amongst others,” she added.

A beaming Anil Wanvari, Founder & CEO, Indiantelevision.com & Co Founder AnimationXpress.com, who is also the Indian representative for Reed Midem shared, “For a long while I had been urging my colleagues at Reed Midem that we should forge associations with leading entertainment and trade bodies in India so that we can present all the facets of the Indian entertainment Industry to the world. We value and treasure our tie up with industry leader FICCI, which is the first of many such initiatives we intend to take up in India.”

“Having a pavilion for India was very critical in terms of presenting a common platform to showcase Indian content and we are glad that FICCI consented to take the lead on this initiative” he added.

Companies and independents can participate and take advantage of the Indian pavilion in several ways. FICCI is offering different packages that include brochures, publicity and showreel exposure; meeting and networking area booking as well as booths in the pavilion. Interested delegates may contact manish@ficci.com for further details on the pavilion.

Global leaders from the entertainment and the audio visual content business have been invited for the India themed opening night party and the Indian delegation will be directly networking with them.

“We are expecting more than 250 Indian delegates at MIPCOM and quite a few leading Indian companies have taken up their own booths including Zee, Sahara, Sony, Shemaroo, Venus, Air Media Technologies as well as Sanra Soft” shared Wanvari.

FICCI has also conducted a study on the Indian entertainment business along with Ernst & Young and the study will be present (on physical media) in every MIPCOM delegate kit.
