Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, one of the leading animation training institutes in the country along with NVIDIA, the world wide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, hosted a seminar by CG Guru Andrew Daffy at Mumbai�s Rang Sharda Auditorium on December 16.

NVIDIA & MAAC have tied up for a series of seminars by International CG experts as part of NVIDIA�s Digital Bollywood Initiative. The year long series will see the best from the industry worldwide sharing their thoughts & experience with the students and professionals in India with the overall goal being that of building and growing the digital content creation community here in India.

Andrew Daffy is an internationally acclaimed CG specialist. He was associated with Framestore CFC that is the largest visual effects and computer animation studio in Europe and has worked on award winning projects such as Walking With Dinosaurs, James Bond title sequences, as well as working on many award winning commercials including Levi�s Odyssey, Xbox Mosquito and Johnnie Walker Fish. He has had the opportunity to work with the UK�s top directors like Daniel Kleinman and Jonathan Glazer.

The two hour Andrew Daffy session was broken down into modules with relevant examples from his projects. He talked about how important it is to communicate with the directors on a creative level, informed the audiences how 2D is as important as a good quality CGI.

According to Daffy, “The animation field is a wide area of activities that covers a whole range of skills and styles, creature to character, photo real to stylized, mainstream to cult. There are also different branches in multimedia like graphics, animation, compositing, modeling & so on and any aspirant needed not only an overall knowledge of the field but also specialization in their area of interest.”

Daffy discussed about his new challenges & plans at â€?the house of curvesâ€?, his company, which acts as a studio and Soho based school. He showcased his work from projects like Leviâ€?s â€?Odysseyâ€?, title sequence of James Bond movie â€?Die another dayâ€?, X box mosquito, Johnnie Walker – fish concept ad, Walking With Dinosaurs….

Speaking exclusively to AnimaitonXpress.com Shravni Chopra, General Manager, MAAC shared, “The seminars were organized at Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi & Mumbai and the response that we got from the students is overwhelming. The event was anticipated to be a great learning process for the audiences and it lived up to much beyond the expectation.”

Besides the Guru tours, MAAC is now gearing up for the �24 FPS� Animation Awards Ceremony, the biggest event for animation industry in India in April 2007.
