Having started projects as big as Multimedia knowledge park (worth USD 110 mn), Chandigarh based Compact Disc India Ltd (CDIL), has announced that it will be setting up additional animation studios in Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram by end this year as part of its expansion plan. CDIL is promoted by Suresh Kumar, Rashmi Seengal and. Santosh Grover.
On the financial front, CDIL has recorded a 91 percent increase in sales for the quarter ended 30 September 2006 at Rs.122.2 million, compared with Rs 63.9 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 18.67 million during the second quarter of the current year.
The company says it has many projects in the pipeline. Among these:
*Parallel Universe’ a 270 minutes, six episode television series a based on the general belief that there is another world beyond our universe which has no limitations and is much more advanced than the earth.
” Friends Forever’, one of the first 3D Animation Hindi feature films which involves interaction between live actors and an animated character “Zampano.”
” English feature film ‘Life after Death’ and ‘Hustle Bustle,’ an international animation film.
The company has also announced two big budget Hollywood films jointly with the $200 million dollar turnover animation studio Media Ventures which has a presence in 28 countries. The films will be officially announced by the end of November in New York, the release added.
Talking to Animationxpress.com about the future plans of CDIL, Gautam Seengal, Managing Director said, “We wish to be the largest animation company in Asia by 2008.”
