Bangalore studios form ABAI, ‘Association of Bangalore Animation Industry’

In a display of solidarity, players from Bangalore’s animation & gaming ecosystem have joined hands to form a new association ‘ABAI’ (Association of Bangalore Animation Industry).

ABAI shared the official release first with Animation ‘xpress. It states, “ABAI ‘The Association of Bangalore Animation Industry” is formed by studios who feel the need of an association which can promote & propagate a collective business vision. The main objectives of ABAI will be to provide a common platform to all the Techno-creative animation activities in Bangalore, to enable and promote animation as an industry in Bangalore & to work towards retaining creative talent in Bangalore”

“ABAI will also promote various means of collaboration among the studios to create a healthy business environment conducive to Partnerships, Co-Productions, VC’s, Servicing, etc along with playing the role of a moderator in regulating the business activities to promote healthy business growth for all” the release further states.

Expected members include Animaster, Animation Bridge, Anirights Infomedia Pvt. Ltd., ANTS Studio Pvt. Ltd, Dhruva Interactive, ITC Infotech India Ltd, Ittina Animation Studios, Mediateck I’ Solutions Pvt. Ltd., MAAC Bangalore (Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics), Paprikaas Animation Studios &Entertainment Labs, Phanimations, Rainbow Media Pvt. Ltd, Raydrops Animation Studio Pvt. Ltd, SGS Creations, Syncline Fx Pvt. Ltd, Synergy Images Pvt. Ltd and ToonSkool Pvt. Ltd.

The association also includes Hardware and Software providers like Aditya Infotech, Digital Waves, Kinfotech Pvt Ltd and Magna Multimedia solutions as its associate members.

The conceptualization of ABAI was kick started by an interesting incident. A few months ago a Turkish animation producer Nuruddin came to Bangalore searching for a suitable animation production studio that could work on an assignment that he wanted to outsource. This purpose made Nurrudin visit most of the studios in Bangalore (Big as well as small) and he mooted the idea to create the association, which was received with a lot of enthusiasm by the players.

ABAI is in the process of being registered and a seven member working commitee has been formed until elections can be held to form the executive body. The members of the working committee are Anirights’ Ashish S.K., ITC Infotech’s Dr Suparno Chaudhary and Mediateck’s Balakrishna, Sandeep Gangatkar from SGS and ANTS MD Chetan S, Sadiya Ismail from Synline FX and Raydrops Animation’s Prakash Cavale.
