Animatricks International Animation Festival, the only film festival in Finland concentrating purely on animation, will be held between 19-22 May 2022 in Helsinki. The festival is organized by Finland’s largest association for animation professionals, Finnish Animation Guild.
Animatricks 2022 International is already accepting entries and it will be open till 15 January 2022. All animation shorts (under 30 minutes including opening and final credits) that are produced after 1 January 2020 are eligible for submission. The entries are free of cost.
Films can be submitted to the following categories:
- International Competition
- National Competition
- Junior Competition
- Experimental Competition
- Documentary Competition
Other eligibility criteria:
- Films submitted to earlier editions of the Animatricks festival are not eligible for re-entry
- Advertisement films are not accepted. Also animated TV-series and their episodes are not accepted into the competition
- Minimum 50 per cent of the film duration must be animation
- Films must have English subtitles if they are not in English or without dialogue
- A screening copy must be submitted in an appropriate digital format
- The selection will be made on completed productions only
The selection committee appointed by the organiser selects the films for the competition. Selection results will be announced in March to all participants as well as on the website.
The festival jury will select the winners in following categories:
- Best International Film
- Best National Film
- Best Student Film
- Best Junior Film
- Audience Award
There can be more categories for the award ceremony depending on the final program of the animation festival.
