15th TBS DigiCon 6 Awards Inviting Short Film Entries: Deadline 10th September

Listen Up Short Film Makers! You have a chance to showcase your digital content on an international platform with DigiCon 6, one of Asia’s prestigious film Awards. Organized by TBS – Tokyo Broadcasting Systems Japan, and in its 15th edition, DigiCon 6 is inviting amateur and professionals to send in shorts following categories: Computer Graphic Animation – 2D-3D- Stop Motion-Clay animation and Live Action Films Shot-Edited by Digital Equipment.

Presented and Organized in India by CGTANTRA, the competition is also inviting short film entries from countries including China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.

A close look at the selection process of the movies reveals that, DigiCon’s country partners gather short film entries from their respective countries and the top 5 films along with the winner nab an opportunity to be a part of the award ceremony at Japan.
So how strong has India’s presence been in the past at DigiCon 6? AnimationXpress.com’s Zeenia Boatwala gets to know this from Abhishek Chandra- Co-Founder of CGTANTRA and organizer of DigiCon 6 in India, “India has already made its mark in DigiCon 6 Awards with ‘Pardesi’ from DSK winning DigCon6 Creativity Award in 2011 and ‘Lubdhanam Cora’ by Sagar Kadam who swept the honors last year in the same category.

The judging panel of TBS DigiCon6 is composed with renowned animation experts from Japan and other Asian countries. So what is the punch that the jury looks out for in your shorts? Abhishek says, “As per my interaction with the jury members in the previous years, they value fresh stories and storytelling styles close to the culture of a film maker.”

DigiCon 6 Award winner is invited to the awards ceremony in Tokyo and along with recognition on an international level; the winner takes home a gift bank having AVID Pro Tools 11 Software, Wacom Intuos5 touch medium along with INR 20,000.

“The winner also grabs a very good opportunity to meet artists, exchange ideas and attend seminars and workshops,” adds Abhishek.
