South Park Studios Integrates Qube! into production pipeline

PipelineFX, makers of Qube!â„? software have recently announced that South Park Studios has chosen Qube! as their render farm management system.

South Park is an award-winning and highly-acclaimed animated series created and executive produced by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Airing on Comedy Central since 1997, South Park satirizes American culture and current events. South Park Studios has integrated Qube! into their Maya animation and rendering pipeline, running primarily on Apple Macintosh hardware.

â€?One of the mandates of my position as Technology Supervisor of South Park is to be on a constant lookout for technologies that can increase the efficiency of South Park’s production pipeline,â€? said J.J. Franzen. â€?Due to the breakneck pace with which we produce the show, anything that can smooth out the process is something we are very interested in. When we met with PipelineFX about Qube!, I was immediately impressed with the knowledge and enthusiasm they brought to the table, and once I tried Qube!, I was even more impressed with the stability, performance, and extensibility of the product.â€?

â€?Having been part of the team that wrote South Park’s original queue management system, I am very familiar with the challenges such a project faces, and Qube! not only faces those challenges, it does so with ingenuity and intelligence. In less than a week, I was able to incorporate Qube! into the existing production pipeline, making the transition practically seamless! I can’t recommend PipelineFX and Qube! enough. I will definitely be using them whenever I have a render farm to manage” he added.

South Park will be using Qube! to manage the rendering of each episode of the show; it was selected because of its speed, reliability, and the open architecture that allows them to quickly integrate it with their custom-built tools.

Everyone at PipelineFX are fans of the South Park series, so we are delighted that Qube! is a part of the South Park production pipeline, said Troy Brooks, CEO of PipelineFX.
