Zee’s ‘Bhaggmati’ ties fortune with Universal for Music

Zee Network today signed a deal with Universal Music for releasing the music of its upcoming film Bhaggmati – The queen of fortunes in the Indian and international market. The formal music release will be in the third week of July.

Bhaggmati is India’s first and the world’s largest classic animated film made by Indians in India for the world. The animation has been done entirely by the Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA).

The film has over 7.5 lakhs hand-drawn frames and the animated portion of the film is of 1 hour and 35 minutes duration. The mix of a love story with animation is expected to appeal to audiences across sections.

According to Rajat Kakkar, Universal Music MD, “Our association with Zee Telefilms goes a long way. Bhaggmati has good music, renowned singers like Asha Bhosle, Roop Kumar Rathod, Vinod Sehgal, Suresh Wadkar and Fareed Sabri have sing six songs in the film. The music has variety and will cater to a cross section of society.”

Speaking on the deal with Universal Music, Zee Telefilms vice-president Ashish Kaul, who’s in charge of marketing Bhaggmati, said, “The uniqueness about the music is that it has been recorded on live instruments and picturised on animated characters.”

Vishal Bhardwaj has scored the music for the film, while the lyrics are by Dr Bashir Badr, Abbas Tyrewala, Nida Fazli, and Ravindra Jain.

Bhaggmati stars Tabu and Milind Soman as the lead pair and Hema Malini has played a special role. The 2 hours and 40 minutes film is written and directed by the National Award winner Ashok Kaul.

The film tells the immortal love story of the prince, Mohammed Qutab Quli Shah and the beautiful dancer Bhaggmati. The story reflects the intensity of love between the two characters of history that has been so strong even after 400 years. History says the fourth Qutab Shahi ruler built the city of Hyderabad at the behest of his ladylove and the Charminar as the symbol of their love.
